Be diligent to know the state of your flocks, And attend to your herds; For riches are not forever, Nor does a crown endure to all generations. When the hay is removed, and the tender grass shows itself, and the herds of the mountains are gathered in, The lambs will provide your clothing, And the goats the price of a field; You shall have enough goat's milk for your food, For the food of your household, And the nourishment of your maidservants. Prov. 27:23-27

On Thursday Karen took a few kids outside to bottle feed
them in the sunshine and Benji was having a lot of fun
with "Blackie" so I took a video of him.

Just Kidden' Around
Our goats are getting quite serious about kidding. We had over one hundred babies last week.
It was very busy but it was fun. In the last few weeks we have doubled the amount of goats we are milking.
The picture above shows some of our yougest babies.

The red glow in this picture is just fom the heat lamps.
They are very curious little animals.

Overworked and Underpaid
I feel like I've been in the barn constantly. We have had a lot of new kids lately. They all need to be bottle fed for the first three feedings and then for the next three taught to drink from a nipple. Sorry I don't have pictures of the kids right now.
These are some pictures of taking down the chicken coop. We had to take it down to be able dig the foundations for the new barn.

Teaching nicole how to drive the tractor.
Sarah catching a ride.
Pouring cement.

Our new vaccum pump. Our old one was having some problems,And we need on to milk(unless we want to milk all the goats by hand).
We are trying out this milker for a few weeks and if we like it we can buy 18 of them.
Our new curtain. Sorry, I don't have pictures of it down but I'll post some as soon as I do.

IT'S A GIRL!!!

This little cutie came sometime yesterday. We were all quite surprised because according to the vet none of the goats were due till mid- January. She loves to drink which is nice because sometimes they can be quite stubborn.

Benji is quite enamoured with her and loves to touch her.

She is only staying in the house for a little while :(
Then she has to go out to the barn again.

Starting Up Again
Hey Everybody, this is Rebecca. I decided to take over Karen's blog for her(seeing as she hasn't posted in a while). I took some pictures of the goats today and I thought I try my hand at posting.
Please bear with me, I've never done this before.

Some of Andrew's turkeys and my Mexican rooster.
Our biggest goat.
One of the bull calves we're raising for meat.
Last but not least...
Please bear with me, I've never done this before.
